The mission of the Main Line Bead Society (MLBS) is to promote, inspire and nurture creative expression, interest and active participation in all aspects of beading. To accomplish our mission, we bring together a diverse group of people to exchange ideas, share techniques and talent and provide education and information through our monthly meetings, programs and specialized workshops and retreats.
The Main Line Bead Society (MLBS) was formed in 2006 by a dedicated group of beaders who wanted to build a sense of community among those who have a passion for beads, beading, wire work, polymer clay, PMC, and all things bead/jewelry related. Because the term "beading" truly encompasses a wide array of creative techniques and forms, anyone who has an enthusiasm to unite beads with fiber, polymer, wire work or many other media is, and always has been, encouraged to come join is at our monthly membership meetings and events. Come to be inspired and to inspire others with your creativity in our friendly supportive environment.

MLBS believes in supporting those less fortunate through bead and other donations to various charities and groups. Our members recommend groups where donations, especially bead donations, can be made to support worthy causes or to help children. We currently support :
The Marine Corps Toys for Tots Campaign The Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign collects and distributes new toys to children whose parents can not afford to buy them Christmas presents. This program has been in existence since 1947. MLBS supports this wonderful cause for children by collecting new toys donated by members during October, November and December of each year and donating them to the local Toys for Tots collection center.
Beads for Panama This group takes beads and beading supplies donated by individuals and organizations and distributes them to native peoples in central American countries and nearby islands. These people utilize the bead donations to create jewelry that they sell to support themselves, their families and their communities.
Beading Divas to the Rescue This is a 501(c)(3) non-profit registered as Beading Divas Bracelets Inc. They create hand-crafted one-of-a-kind beaded bracelets made with donated beads and findings. The Beading Divas then raise money from the sale of the bracelets they make and donate the proceeds from these sales to more than 40 animal charities (to date, some chosen more than once) in six states and Spain (with a US 501(c)(3).
Beat It Beads This all volunteer group headquartered in Horsham PA was started when the organizer of the group was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. She wanted to help other women who just received this diagnosis to have hope and know that they could beat cancer. She came up with "Beat It Beads". Volunteers take donated beads, old and new necklaces and bracelets and even broken jewelry with beads that can be recycled and from these they create bracelets and necklaces that are donated to Fox Chase Cancer Center, Abington Hospital and the American Cancer Society. Each beaded piece contains a Circle Charm engraved with the words “BEAT IT,” representing a circle of women shouting out BEAT IT! By donating our unwanted beads, we become part of the Circle to spread “THE © BEAT IT BEADS AGAINST BREAST CANCER” message.
